Q. Hi, I'm home educating my child for the first time & i have to write an answer for this qustion for the department of education. only i do not understand it says the home educator provides information about: Analysis, Problem solving, Communication, planning & collaboration ??? thank you

A. It's basically saying your requirements when you are teaching your child: you have to teach him to analyze things (math problems, letters of the alphabet), you have to teach him how to solve problems (short-answer questions, more math problems), you have to teach him how to communicate (speaking, English and another language, manners), you need to plan your lesson plans for your son, and he should probably plan for his future (never too early), and you have to teach him how to work with others, or collaberate.

What education and training is needed to be a professional golf player?
Q. I am doing a career report and I want to be a golf player for the LPGA. What education is training needed to pursue this career? How many years of education, college you could attend and what type of degree do you earn? Also, what are average salaries? Thanks so much!!
Asked by peaceee - Tue May 13 18:03:55 2008 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Being a "Golf Professional" isn't necessarily the same as being a "Professional Golfer". Golf Pros generally work within the golf industry as instructors, Golf Course Managers/Director's of Golf etc. Professional Golfers play the game to make a living. To become a Golf Pro you need at the least to have a diploma in golf management from a community college. These courses teach everything from course maintenance to club repairs to running local tournaments to managing a golf course. To be a Professional Golfer you need the skill to play the game at it's highest level.

What if education costs are less than your Coverdell IRA value?
Q. If the education IRA and 529 plan I have for my son grows in value such that all education expenses are completely covered, what happens with the remainder? If there is a penalty, what is the rate?
Asked by DCPete27 - Mon Dec 31 21:56:20 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Your educational IRA money has to come out by age 30 but the 529 plan has no age limit. Also, the educational IRA can be spent on any education ( high school, grade school, etc.) but the 529 plan can only be spend on college. Therefore, if it looks like you have over-funded: 1. Use the educational IRA on high school and grade school expenses. 2. Spend the educational IRA first. 3. If there is any thing left in the 529 plan when your son finishes college, leave it in there. If you end up needing it for your retirement, spend it last. You will pay income tax and a 10% penalty on any earnings in the account that are withdrawn for non-educational purposes at that time. If you don't need it for your retirement, make your son the successor… [cont.]

How much education is required to be qualified for Immigration to Canada?
Q. This is in relation to another question I asked. Under the categories, Provincial Nominee, Skilled Worker, and the new Canadian Experience Class, what is the least amount of education required for Immigration to Canada? Some people keep saying you need to have at least a 4 year degree or a baccalaureate etc to be qualified, yet the Canada Immigration website says you can qualify with less (2 year diploma, etc). So I'm just curious what should I believe and does anyone else have an idea of what the least amount of education is required?

A. You can actually qualify with no diploma under provincial nominee. Alberta and BC have semi-skilled options under their PNP's so if you have experience as a bell hop, hotel room cleaner, kitchen helper, fast food worker and some others, you are in. You would only need a job offer from said province doing one of the jobs listed and apply for temporary work permit. Once you are working, you can apply to the PNP with the help of your employer and get permanent residency. For skilled worker, you apply under a points system. You can get points for education, work experience, language skills, age and other things. You are ok to have fewer points in the education category if you have a lot of points in the other ones. How does a good education in mexico translated to america (and the other way around)?
Q. Obviously this is an extremely broad question, but i'm more interested in the general translation. If someone received a high school education in Mexico, would they be considered educated in America (or conversely). What are the focuses of education in Mexico in comparison to America? Anything you want to add would be helpful as well. I'm looking at education for a cultural anthropology project.

I can't find the data, but I know I saw a chart showing how countries with low education are very poor and countries with lots of education are much better off financially. So it stands to logic if a country were to give every citizen a free PhD quality education it's per capita income would be highest in the world. Would you support this? Why or why not?

What is the best education model for a child today and where can I find it in the world?
Q. There are several options for a child's education in today's world. There are variations in curriculum, teaching methodologies, cultural values, goals of education. There are novel options available today such as unschooling and home schooling that were not as common earlier. What then is an ideal educational system for a child from school through undergraduate and graduation? Where is the best education system available in the world for each of these levels?

A. Globally Denmark is considered to have the best public education system. It spends the most on education per member of the population. If you visit the websites of Danish schools you get a strong feeling of an ordered and caring system. Other Scandinavian countries also have a good reputation especially Finland. As far as methodologies go, there are supporters and detractors for every system, so you cannot really compare.

Then, they did Master's degrees in Translating. This isn't my area of interest, and I don't know of any North American universities that offer graduate programs in Translating.

A. I am a sophomore and currently taking two courses related to my major (middle grades edu) So far they have been helpful. One is about diversity in the classroom, which will be helpful because America is a melting pot and there will be kids from all types of cultures and ethnicity's in my class in the future and this is preparing me to deal with them. and the other is about teacher etiquette. Of course that will be helpful for obvious reasons, there are a million things that are inappropriate to do or say around children, somethings that you would not even think. So in conclusion these courses are great.

How does an education background check work?
Q. I am up for a position and they are in the process of running different background checks on me. The one that concerns me is the education background check. I am exactly one class shy of earning the BS degree that I claimed on my CV. I walked during graduation and everything, but I never got the *incomplete* for that class cleared up and, hence, never completely fulfilled my graduation requirements. In an education background check, do companies verify that you have the degree or just that you attended the university during the dates you claimed? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Asked by mike_h - Mon Jun 30 16:53:06 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. An education verification typically will verify the highest level of degree obtained. If you did not actually graduate, then it will be reported as such. Many colleges and universities have chosen to outsource their verifications to a third party, so the background screening company usually does not even talk to the school to find any additional information. I would suggest clearing this up. As a follow up, there are fewer companies that verify education backgrounds then criminal backgrounds.

What purposes does education serve other than providing greater economic rewards?

A. You don't need an education unless you plan to do something that requires it. The reason we go to school is because if parents didn't send their children to school they'd be fined; if they refuse to pay the fine, people in blue costumes with guns will come to take their children away and throw them in a cage; if they resist this aggression they'll be shot. The same will happen to anyone who refuses to pay for this "service" regardless of whether they have children attending school or not.

What is the education requirement difference between a neuropsychologist and psychologist?
Q. I was wondering, what is the difference between the education needed to become a neuropsychologist vs. a psychologist? I know there is obviously a difference, and I'd lie to know how much more education one needs to be a neuropsychologist. Are there more science-based classes that need to be taken? I want to be a neuropsychologist, but I don't know how much more I would have to do in school. If it's as much as a doctor, then I definately won't. Thanks so much.

A. The training is different. You want to find a school that has a neuropsychology specialization and ensure that you take classes on physiological psychology, neuroanatomy, neuropsychological testing, and psychopharmacology.. You should also obtain a predoctoral internship in neuropsychology that is APA or CPA accredited. After you graduate, you will need a postdoctoral neuropsychology residency or fellowship. For all the educational requirements and skills needed, go to this website:

A. One reason why you may not be finding anything specifically on this topic is because it is subjective and interpretive. My opinion is that higher education is fine if it has a practical application. For instance, practicing law or becoming a doctor but there are many other professions where this could hamper the individual. From a professional aspect, the worst Engineers I have ever had on my staff or worked with me are PhD's. Their minds are developed in such an analytical manner that they become dysfunctional. Q. I am trying to write a paper for one of my classes, and am having a hard time finding information on the topic. Our prof wants us to get others philosophies of higher education and evaluate them and come up with our own. However, when I search "philosophy of higher education" all I get is info on PhD programs! So, if you are a higher ed administrator or an educator, what is your philosophy of higher education, or what is your college's philosophy? Also if you have any tips on where to find this information, or better ways to search, please let me know! Thanks for your help!

What education would I need to work in the Psychological Department of a Hospital?
Q. I'm interested in going into this department. What high school and college education would I need in order to get a good well paying job in that department?

A. To get a job that pays well in the psychology department of a hospital, you would likely need an M.D. (work as a psychiatrist). You could work with patients as a master's level therapist, but they do not make much money at the job ( don't count on more than 35k-40k, and even that could be pushing it). With a bachelor's degree in psychology, you could work in the department as a psych tech, but your pay would scarcely rival that of working at your local McDonald's (sad, but true). ~M~
