A. Secondary succession. "Secondary succession is one of the two types of ecological succession of plant life. As opposed to primary succession, secondary succession is a process started by an event (e.g. forest fire, harvesting, hurricane) that reduces an already established ecosystem (e.g. a forest or a wheat field) to a smaller population of species, and as such secondary succession occurs on preexisting soil where as primary succession usually occurs in a place lacking soil."

What action word describes how a ripple is caused in a pond?
Q. I am writing some theme content for my website, and I need a word that describes what either a person or a fish would do to cause a ripple in a pond. For instance, to cause a "wave" you might "splash", but to cause a "ripple" you would ___? I am also trying to think of the word that describes when fish are surfacing on a pond to feed on insects (sometimes in the morning or evening you can see them "popping up" all over the lake).
