Asked by xerene - Fri Jun 23 07:07:35 2006 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Go to "start".."run"..type in msconfig then click on "startup"..uncheck anything slowing your system down then click on "Services" and do the same...then you'll have to reboot...when system reboots it will prompt you about the changes you made...just check the box on the bottom left side saying..."don't show this message again" That should solve your problem...Good luck

A. When you put the network cable into your laptop it should bring up (found new hardware) then it will install the drivers then it would need to be rebooted. So all fine so far now that your running again select *connect to a network* from the start menu this will bring up a box where you select the modem (the one you have connected) then it will ask for a wep key (or other security code format) enter the code and then it will connect to the net via that modem The wep key will be from the settings in the modem (router)

How do I get internet on a nokia 770 internet tablet?
Q. I recently bought a nokia 770 internet tablet, it says that I access the internet through wifi or cellphone. Can someone give me the information on wifi? What is it? How do you use/activate it and are there any fees? Do I need services like an internet provider with monthly fees? Are there any other things that I may need to purchase?
Asked by shauna - Tue Aug 7 10:28:36 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You can go online 3 different ways with your new tablet. You can go online the same way you would with a laptop. You can use Bluetooth or you can pair it with a phone. The first link I put is a pdf file. If you go to page 20 it will show you the 3 different ways to go online. The second link is a interactive demonstrations which can help you go online also. Go to "Managing Connections" under "Feature Demos".

How do you feel about internet or cable based classes while attending a traditional university?
Q. I am planning out my class schedule for next semester, and I could take two of my 5 classes via the internet. So, I'd only have to go to campus for tests. This would be very convenient, as parking is a hassle, and I work full-time so going down for anything is annoying. The classes are also offered in a traditional lecture format, with night classes that would work with my schedule, but I would have to take the extra time to go, park, etc which would certainly be tempting to skip, whereas the internet I could do whenever. What are your experiences/thoughts with internet based or otherwise remote classes? It seems like it would be a lot more work, cause you'd have to read everything instead of just absorbing lecture material. P.S.… [cont.]
Asked by Bob - Thu Oct 11 11:49:47 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It really depends on how important the lecture material is to you. For example, when I was in college I went to almost every class so I wouldn't have to read too much from the book. Also, the Prof. would give hints as to what would be on the test or what was really important on projects. However, if you are a person that can learn easily from reading the book all on your own, then by all means make your life easy and take the class over the Internet. I also think taking classes over the Internet is easier. My sister teaches all her college classes that way and doesn't give much homework, mainly a few projects and one exam.

How do internet cafes work when you have a laptop?
Q. I am getting a new laptop soon and I'm wondering how Internet cafes work. Do they use WIFI? Will I need to buy any extra equipment to acess the Internet or will they just have a cord that I can plug into my computer? Thanks!
Asked by Lafg M - Thu Mar 13 14:59:44 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Make sure you have a wireless card installed in your laptop; preferably 802.11a/g/n. Most, but not all, already have one installed. You'll see a little computer icon in the tray in the lower left hand corner of your screen indicationg whether you've picked up the cafe's signal or not. You can also click on it and choose other signals that are in range. Now security is another issue ;)

My cable internet goes out during the day but is fine when weather is cool. Do I need to rewire house?
Q. When weather is less than app. 80 degrees I have internet service. When it gets hot I lose service. The cable company installed it on the eave of the roof, but laid the 75 ohm cable across the roof. I moved the cable so that it no longer ran across the roof and gained another couple of hours during the day of connection time. One of the contractors they sent said that if we could use the outdoor cabling the company uses we would probably be fine, but the company won't allow them to use it indoors. Since we have no crawl space to run wires. Do they make heat resistant 75 ohm cabling? Or can I increase the signal to the cable modem with an amplifier. The cable company hasn't offered any options except drilling through the walls,… [cont.]

A. it might not look pretty but try wrapping the cable in tin foil. Or get a length of pcv pipe and run the cable through that.

How do I get internet service for a desktop and a laptop in the same house?
Q. I am moving in my own apartment with my girlfriend. She has a laptop and I have a desktop. I wanted to know what kind of internet service I should get so we both could be on our computers at the same time. And I just pay one bill. (If that is possible.) I am basically looking for the of this service. (Eg. Wireless internet, satellite internet, etc.)
Asked by Mike L's - Sat Jul 4 01:09:56 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The easiest way is to get service with any internet service provider, then buy and hook up your own wireless router. It is easy. You hook your internet modem up to the router. You can hook your desktop up directly (hardwire) to the modem or router. Then your girlfriend can get online using the wireless feature. This is how we have our home set up. My son's desktop is hardwired in (he is a gamer and the slight speed advantage is important to him), but we have four other computers and laptops which get online through the wireless connection. One bill, as many computers as you like. And you don't have to sign up for your ISP's 'wireless service' because all they do for that is rent a wireless router to you (you end up paying a lot… [cont.]

A. With all the unknown variables, I recommend asking a tech friend to possibly come over prepared with a wireless router and his laptop for testing purposes. If you can't do that I would call a geek from best buy to come out and look for you. Check the link below to try it for yourself first.

Q. I want to get a blackberry and i was planning on getting it off ebay and activating it at home but my internet is blocked on my current phone. When i activate the blackberry will it still require me to have internet even when the internet is already blocked. My carrier is verizon.

A. Verizon requires you to add a blackberry feature if you want to activate a blackberry device. This feature starts at $29.99 per month. As an aside, you have to contact Verizon to switch your service from your current phone to the blackberry. They'll need the ESN number from the phone during the activation process.

Asked by space - Tue Jan 19 15:20:45 2010 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It would depend on the level of detail needed. I would start with datagrams and routing methodologies since those are pretty fundamental, then up to at least the transport layer. Most of the time I'd probably extend that showing how it relates to the different application layer services but equally I can envisage people being more interested in the physical and data link side of things. A. I strongly disagree with all of these people. if you have itunes already then try to follow along. when you go to the itunes homepage within itunes, look at the first menu down the right side of the page, it should have the heading 'itunes store'. in this menu find 'app store', its usually at the bottom. From this part of itunes you can do many things to find the app you are looking for. the app then downloads to your ipod the same way songs do. -for this you do need a computer with an internet connection, but since you made this post i don't think thats a problem. You can also connect to the app store over wi-fi directly from the ipod touch.

A. If you go through AT&T, you can add a text and internet plan onto your pay as you go account. You you don't add this on, using your internet will drain your account in no time. I don't believe other service providers allow you to add service bundles onto their pre paid plans.

A. Most of the time a computer network will delegate the majority of usage to an individual computer/connection to a point, the router/switch will do this automatically to optimize that computers usage. The only way to correct this would normally be a router with a set of rules for each connection using the signal. Hope this helps
